We are all familiar social and fashion trends but lets delve into food trends
sushi
I definatly think that sushi is alot more popular now than it was years ago, people have become more experimental with cuisine and also it has become more widely available. Although I would still consider it a dish for a more mature appetite
cupcakes
I think cupcakes have definatly become more of a fashion statement. They are so bold bright and eye-catching nowadays, in comparison to the little fairy cakes we was use to growing up. They are great for themed events special occasions and parties.

cake pops
macaroons
These french desserts are like a higher end upscale cookie. They come in a variety of different flavour and colour combinations. And completly different to the almond macaroons available from the local bakery when I was growing up, again I feel like these are more of a fashion statement than a snack.
red velvet cake
red velvet this originated from america and is coloured red by traditionally using beetroot however more recently this has been replaced with red food colouring, it is a moist cake that is popular with youths and includes buttermilk. There is also the blue velvet cake which is obviously blue and the colour comes from either blue food colouring or blueberries.
frozen yogurt - pink berry
Although frozen yogurt orignated from india, it was made popular by america in the 1990's. I feel like we have only more recently become more widely available to it in the UK. it is a healthier and lighter variation of ice cream and usually served with toppings from different fruits to chocolates and sauces.
strawberries - decorated specifically for weddings
multi coloured meringues
the minature food fashion
the food/drink in jar trend - smoothies
I watched these videos on youtube including food and using them to create differnent things, from optical illusions such as the burger thats actually made from cake and fruit etc to a fun stadium made out of food which is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
food optical illusion of food with sweet looking like savoury
food stadium made out of food, showcasing food in a different way but also using food to create art
- food literally taking on the ombre trend with the colour transition like the ombre hair trend
